Give a CSA a shot for a few weeks

If you’ve been thinking about joining a CSA, but haven’t wanted to sign up for the long term commitment that many of them require, I’ve got a deal for you. The great folks at Growing Washington are offering two short session CSAs this fall and winter.

Their fall CSA runs from October 31st through November 22nd. The winter CSA runs from November 28th through December 20th.

That’s just 4 weeks for each CSA. What better time to check out a CSA and see if it works for you and your family. Both CSAs are $96 for a small box and $144 for a large box. Growing Washington is one of just a handful of CSAs that lets you pick what goes into your box. So if you hate kale but love squash, you can be assured you won’t get a box full of kale.

You can sign up online and pick up your boxes at the farmers markets or in one of several neighborhood drop zones.

Most of the items in your boxes will be from Growing Washington’s two farms. They might need to supplement a bit, but you will never receive produce that is from outside Washington state.

If you have any questions, check out their website. We’ve been very happy with our summer CSA boxes and we’re excited about the winter boxes as well.

  • I actually think one of the best things about a CSA is the surprise of what you get each week and trying new things, or trying new recipes for produce you’ve not learned to love yet. I’ve been a member for 3 years – I’ve yet to see a downside to belonging – fresh, local, organic, and competitively priced!
