Summer Sundays are fantastic for local shopping. You can visit any of these local farmers markets:
- Ballard Farmers Market: 10am to 3pm
- West Seattle Farmers Market: 10am to 2pm
- Broadway Farmers Market: 11am to 3pm
- Lake Forest Park Farmers Market: 11am to 4pm
This week, we’ve got a great recipe that calls for some of Oyster Bill’s scallops. Yes, scallops. Taylor Shellfish sells small packages of scallops in addition to the clams, mussels, oysters, and geoducks. John marinated and grilled them and they were fantastic. The scallops will keep for several days in the fridge, so pick them up tomorrow and we’ll have a tasty recipe for you on Monday.
Empire Ice Cream will be back at the Ballard Farmers Market with their saffron ice cream. If you’re interested in cooking with some local saffron yourself, check out Phocas Farm. They sell groundcover plants, but they also have local saffron. We’re thinking of turning it into some sort of panna cotta sometime next week. Not at all sure how that’ll work, but if it works in ice cream…
